Bring Out Your Inner Cowgirl on a Wilderness Spa and Adventure Weekend: The Resort at Paws Up

Written by Wendy Altschuler

There’s a reason why Gwyneth Paltrow, Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio vacation in Montana, and more specifically, at The Resort at Paws Up—wide open spaces, big blue skies, wild animal sightings and 360 panoramic views of pure beauty. Nature, and slowing down to smell the lodgepole pines, is good for our wellbeing and for our explorer instincts.

Guests at The Resort at Paws Up, a stunning luxurious wilderness retreat in the mountains, can explore 37,000 acres of a working cattle ranch. Adventurers can go on an ATV tour, horseback riding, rappelling and whitewater rafting. You’ll see, and more importantly, feel firsthand why Montana is known as “Big Sky Country”, the “Land of the Shining Mountains” and “The Last Best Place.” Montana will burrow into your heart and never leave.

Folks that need some down time can indulge in lavish spa treatments and yoga. From October—May, the historic Morris Ranch House is the lovely setting for healing spa services, and during the warmer months, spa-goers can sigh their troubles away in Spa Town, a row of rustic, luxury tents that bring the outdoors in. Yoga in the summer takes place in the meadow at Spa Town. Other fun and innovative yoga offerings are: Blindfolded Yoga, Family Yoga, Little Feet Yoga (kids), Restorative Yoga, Stand-up Paddleboard Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga and Yogalates.

New to The Resort at Paws Up this spring is AdrenZen, a mash up of adrenaline activities and bliss-out Zen inspiration. On the weekend of May 5—8, participants will immerse themselves in nature on hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, ATV riding and rappelling adventures; sweat it out with The Biggest Loser star, Jen Widerstrom, on daily group fitness classes; and, of course, make time for spiritual renewal—meditation, yoga and spa treatments. Staying true the health-centric ethos, AdrenZen also offers gourmet, salubrious food (not to mention delicious cocktails), prepared by celebrity chef, and James Beard nominee, Kelly Liken. Doesn’t this three-night, all-inclusive package sound like a dream?
