The McKinley Kluane Backcountry tent has much to offer in terms of a lightweight, inexpensive, compact, two person backcountry tent.

I purchased this tent in the spring of 2015 and have been exclusively using it for both backcountry and front country camping and have been very impressed with the quality of the tent for the price point. This tent comes in at $170.00 CAD regular price and is often on sale online or in stores.

The Kluane tent has an extremely sturdy design that can withstand high winds without tearing, bending or breaking. The hollow, lightweight, aluminum poles are colour coded at each end making the tent extremely intuitive to set up; taking approximately 10 minutes the first time I had purchased this tent to have it set up entirely and only minutes to take down and repack. This tent packs down into a reflective, velcro and buckle close compression bag which can be compressed down to weigh only 3.1 kilograms total.

There are two mesh zip up entrances on either side of the tent with small vestibule storage, although the vestibule space is quite small it has the ability to keep shoes and backpacks out of the weather conditions without having it in your sleeping area. The tent fly has reflective lining and can easily be taken on or off the tent.

This tent houses two people comfortably and has space for a large furry companion to sleep comfortably. The tent is well ventilated and waterproof. I have had this tent in wind, snow and rain and have not had any issues with leaks or tears.

The Kluane tent allows for two people to be sitting up in the tent without hitting the top of the tent and also features four mid size pockets built in to each corner of the tent for the storage of small items.
