Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. For those of us that use Paid Time Off to travel, the first step between you and your adventure is asking for approval. Here are a few tips when speaking with your manger about your holiday.
1) Anticipate your manager’s questions. How long will you be out? Will a co-worker need to assist while you are away? How will you complete your work before you leave?
2) Try not to wait until the last minute to ask. Of course, it’s hard to resist last minute flight deals. 6 weeks’ notice is ideal for more than a week off, and your manager will appreciate the heads up.
3) Show your excitement! Positive attitudes are contagious. Your boss will appreciate the combination of you thinking things out for him/her, giving advanced notice, and your own enthusiasm.
