Moderate level activities (i.e. short to medium hikes up to 5 miles, some elevation, intro to new skill/activity that is guided by 3rd party like mountain biking, climbing, rafting, etc.). Activities are included, but optional if outside of your comfort zone.

Join us on a captivating 11-day journey through the enchanting landscapes and rich history of Greece with our carefully curated itinerary. The adventure begins in the heart of civilization, Athens, where ancient history and modern energy collide. A visit to the mystical monasteries perched atop towering rocks in Meteora will offer a glimpse into the country’s spiritual heritage before we venture off the beaten path into the quaint villages of Epirus, where time seems to stand still amid cobbled streets and traditional charm. Our journey culminates in the sun-drenched allure of Corfu, an island paradise embraced by the turquoise Ionian Sea.

From hiking ancient trails to savoring the rich tapestry of Greek cuisine, every day promises an unforgettable experience, blending cultural immersion, natural wonders, and the warm hospitality that defines the Greek way of life.

Day 1:

Welcome to athens!

Greetings, fellow adventurers…Welcome to Greece!

Today is our arrival day. Meet your trip host and fellow travelers at the airport. Our local guide will provide a couple airport transfers to our small cozy hotel in the heart of Athens. Take some time to relax or walk around the city after we check in.

In the evening, we'll convene to enjoy a welcome dinner as we get to know each other. Get ready for a taste of Greek hospitality and cuisine!

Day 2:

exploring Athens - the Acropolis & Mount Hymettus Adventure

Rise and shine! After breakfast we kick off our Greek journey and today we begin with immersing ourselves in ancient history and breathtaking views. 

Our day starts with a visit to the iconic Acropolis, perched atop a rocky outcrop in Athens. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site housing iconic structures such as the Parthenon, a symbol of ancient Greek civilization. Enjoy a tour of this architectural masterpiece, dating back to the 5th century BCE, offering a glimpse into the rich history and cultural achievements of ancient Athens.

In the afternoon, we will enjoy an optional activity. You can choose to join the group for a sunset hike on Mount Hymettus, offering unparalleled views of the city or if you are looking for a little down time, spend time enjoying a delicious afternoon coffee or drink on a rooftop patio taking in the cityscape. 

Tonight we will enjoy dinner with the group at a beautiful restaurant with local cuisine and fabulous company!

Day 3:

Road Trip to Meteora

Καλημέρα or good morning as the locals say! Enjoy breakfast, pack your bags, and as we embark on a scenic 4-hour drive to the mystical region of Meteora. We head north into the interior of the country and along the way you’ll be dazzled by stunning landscapes you didn’t know existed here. 

Meteora is a captivating region in central Greece, known for its towering rock formations topped with monasteries that seemingly defy gravity. These monasteries, built in the 14th century, provide a breathtaking blend of nature and religious history and offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, creating a truly awe-inspiring destination.

Once we arrive in the small, peaceful village of Kastraki, we'll stretch our legs with a short hike to explore the area. Dinner will be enjoyed together this evening as we enjoy local dishes and delicacies.

Elevation 200 m/657 feet

Day 4:

Meteora Marvels!

Wake up and get ready for a full day dedicated to exploring the awe-inspiring Meteora. 

Our adventure today includes a loop hike through the unique landscape as we have the opportunity to visit monasteries perched atop the towering rock pillars. We will take some time to enjoy our packed lunch with an incredible view. 

As the day draws to a close, we will depart for the enchanting Epirus. After a short two hour drive we will arrive at our destination for the evening, a fantastic hotel in Vitsa. After we check in you will have some time to freshen up before dinner that evening.

Elevation: 450m/1,477 feet

Day 5:

The Bridges Hike and Culinary Delights

After a delicious breakfast, it’s time to lace-up our hiking boots for a special morning adventure exploring Vitsa's famous stone bridges. These bridges have stood the test of time, showcasing remarkable craftsmanship. Over the years these centuries-old arched bridges, such as the Kokkoris and Lazaridis bridges, not only serve as vital connections across the landscape but they also provide a glimpse into the architectural heritage of this area. Crossing these bridges, we will be transported to an era where stone masonry flourished, surrounded by the lush greenery and natural beauty of the Vitsa region.

In the afternoon, we will join Maria for a cooking lesson, delving into the secrets of Greek cuisine. During the lesson, we will learn about the iconic dishes that showcase the diverse and delicious culinary traditions of this beautiful region. 

Tonight we stay in the charming village of Vitsa again and the evening is yours to take a stroll through the village, enjoy dinner at the Kanella kai Garyfallo or find a local patio to enjoy your drink of choice.

Day 6:

The Vikos Gorge, The Grand Canyon of Greece

Rise and shine and enjoy breakfast before our adventure continues with an exhilarating day crossing the Vikos Gorge. We are sure today’s stunning landscape will leave you breathless! 

Nestled in the Pindus Mountains in northwestern Greece, the Vikos Gorge is one of the most spectacular canyons in Europe. With a depth of around 1,000 meters (3,300 ft), it holds the Guinness World Record as the world’s deepest gorge relative to its width and is nicknamed the Grand Canyon of Greece. Today we will spend the day exploring the Vikos Gorge Crossing, an almost 10 mile through hike that begins in the small stone village of Mondoendri and ends in the village of Vikos. We will pack lunches to enjoy along the way taking in the magnificent views of this canyon. 

Tonight we will stay in the picturesque village of Aristi where we will enjoy a well-earned dinner together before snuggling into our bed for the evening.

Elevation: 1,053m/3,455 feet

Day 7:

Rafting on Voidomatis and Nature Walks!

Take a morning stroll through the village before a delicious breakfast or wake up slowly with a fresh cup of coffee. Today we will embrace the beauty of nature with a gentle rafting trip on the Voidomatis River. This adventure begins in the Vikos Gorge and meets the Aoos River as it passes through the Viko-Aoos National Park. This is an easy route and is ideal for beginners so no experience is necessary.

After an incredible adventure on the water, we will indulge in a delicious lunch in Papigo. The day continues with an afternoon walk to mesmerizing rock pools, take a gentle walk along the river, or explore the village on your own. Our home for the night is Aristi and we will enjoy dinner together in the evening.

Day 8:

it’s island time - off to corfu!

Enjoy breakfast and pack your bags because today we bid farewell to Epirus and head to the enchanting island of Corfu!

A two hour drive will take us to a port where we will hop on a 1.5 hour ferry. Our journey ends at the stunning island of Corfu, a rugged mountainous island with crystal clear waters where you will be able to relax and enjoy the island life for the next three nights.

We will arrive in the early to mid afternoon and you will have the rest of the day to enjoy on your own. Grab lunch, relax with a stroll on the beach and take a dip in the Ionian Sea. 

For those who would like to have an extra little adventure, our guide will be offering a short hike up to Lakones Village for sunset. Dinner will be enjoyed with the group tonight.

Day 9:

a Boat Adventure!

Wake up and enjoy the smell of the ocean breeze! After breakfast we will make our way to the old traditional port of Corfu.

Here we will board a traditional Greek style sailing boat as our adventure takes us to the north to explore more of this captivating island. On our way we will make stops at a couple hidden beaches that can only be accessed by boat. We will have time to enjoy the views and swim in the crystal blue waters. For lunch our host will prepare a traditional lunch and of course there will be wine on board!

Around midday we will arrive at the stunning Gulf of Erimitis, known for its beautiful coastline, sea caves, rock formations and wild beaches. We will enjoy some time exploring the coastline and taking in the views. For our final stop, we will make a visit to the Peristereon lighthouse before heading back to Corfu.

Take some time to freshen up when we arrive back at the hotel before we enjoy dinner together.

Day 10:

The Corfu Trail - A Hiking Paradise

Hello, morning! We have one more EPIC adventure in store for today! After breakfast it is time to lace-up those hiking boots again as we set out to explore a portion of the scenic Corfu Trail. The Corfu Trail is a 220 km long walking route that leads through some seriously stunning landscape untouched by mass tourism.

From Kaminaki beach we will hike up to Old Perithia village, Corfu’s oldest village with records dating back to the 14th century. Initially built to stay safe from pirate attacks, this village is found nestled near the top of the island’s highest peak, Mount Pantokrator, and boasts stunning views of the Ionian Sea towards Albania. Nowadays this tiny village is mostly abandoned with only a few tavernas and guest houses. We will enjoy lunch in Old Perithia before we drive towards to Kasiopi village.

After a full day of adventure, we will make our way to the hotel. Enjoy a quick dip in the ocean or a final beach stroll before we meet up for our farewell dinner. Tonight, we will stay in Kasiopi village for our final evening on this beautiful island.

Day 11:

Departure - Farewell Greece!

Wake up and enjoy the smell of the ocean! Today our incredible journey comes to an end as we make our way back to Athens after breakfast.

Departing from Corfu, you will have the option to book a direct flight back to Athens or, for a scenic finale, take a ferry and enjoy a picturesque drive. Either way you’ll have time to reflect on the memories made as we bid farewell to this remarkable adventure in Greece! Safe travels, and until our next adventure!

    If you are traveling solo, you will be assigned a same gender roommate upon request.

    A deposit is due at booking to secure your spot and a monthly payment plan to follow. Additional payments may be applied to the trip balance prior to payment due dates.

  • • 11 days/ 10 nights accommodations in quaint hotels. Double occupancy. Single occupancy may be available upon request and is subject to availability at the time of booking.

    •All meals from the welcome dinner on Day 1 through breakfast on Day 11. (10 breakfasts, 9 lunches, 10 dinners). At times, meals may be accompanied by wine or N/A drink options.

    • Ground transportation/transfers to and from the Athens International airport (ATH) at designated arrival and departure dates and times. Two group transfers will be provided for arrival. A transfer to Corfu Airport (CFU) will also be provided for those that fly back to Athens. Please note if you opt for the land transfer back to Athens, you may need to add-on an additional night in Athens as the travel time (drive and ferry) can take 7-8 hours without delays.

    • Two local guides (one male and one female) who will accompany the group from Day 1 through Day 11 leading the activities noted below.

  • All meals will be provided as noted in the itinerary. Please reach out to the trip host after booking if you have any food allergies/sensitivities. We always do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions but cannot make any guarantees.

  • This trip requires a minimum number of ladies to register in order for it to be confirmed. Once the trip reaches the minimum participant number, you will receive a trip confirmation email and a link to be added a private WhatsApp group just for trip guests. In this group further trip details will be provided along with pre-travel support.

  • Women Who Explore guests will be required to follow the local Covid-19 guidelines and requirements as set forth by the local governing body of the destination being visited.

  • Travel (and medical) insurance is required for anyone traveling on a Women Who Explore adventure. Your insurance should include adequate protection for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment and the specific activities involved on your adventure. Your insurance policy should also include specific Covid-19 cover, including cancellation and curtailment cover if you or a close relative are diagnosed with Covid-19.
