Earn your PADI Open Water or Advanced Open Water certification with a group of rad adventurous ladies from around the world in the crystal-clear blue waters of Roatán, Honduras. You’ll have the chance to experience the vibrant coral reefs and encounter marine life while learning how to master the art of scuba diving. Diving is a gateway to a lifetime of underwater exploration where you’ll uncover a whole new, bright and beautiful world.

This experience is tailored for women who want to obtain their Open Water or Advanced Open Water PADI diver certification with like minded women in a supportive environment. PADI certification is included in the trip price. Open Water participants will be required to complete the PADI e-learning portion in advance of the trip. No prior dive experience is required to attend this trip. This trip is open to divers of all skill levels.

IKarrie learned to scuba dive in 2001 and worked as a PADI divemaster at a dive shop outside Washington, DC where she enjoyed helping teach open water certification classes. Scuba ignited in Karrie a passion for the ocean that she turned into a decade-long career in marine science and conservation in DC, Florida and California. She's been diving around the world including Australia, Belize, Fiji, Thailand and even Antarctica. Karrie looks forward to sharing her personal experiences and providing a supportive environment for trip participants learning to dive. 

PADI DIVER CERTIFICATIONS

OPEN WATER DIVER

On this trip you’ll receive a PADI Open Water Diver Certification which will allow you to participate in SCUBA diving adventures on all your travels around the world.  

During the certification process, your dive instructor will guide you step by step, and along with your WWE Trip Host, make sure that you feel comfortable, relaxed and you are enjoying yourself at all times. No previous experience is required for the Open Water certified program. After you complete the certification course, you’ll be a confident, certified diver with a whole new world under the water to explore! 

The PADI Open Water Diver course includes three parts: Knowledge Development through E-learning, Confined Water Dives, and Open Water Dives. Knowledge Development covers the principles, concepts and terms you need to know for dive safety and enjoyment. You will be required to complete this portion of the course in advance of the start of the trip on your own. This will allow you to focus on the in-water training when you are in Roatan and it will have more free time for fun dives!

During the Confined Water Dives, you’ll learn and practice scuba skills in the shallow warm waters of the bay. Then to complete training, you will apply and demonstrate what you’ve learned through 4 Open Water Dives alongside your instructor while exploring the beautiful Roatan reef. After that you'll be certified to dive to a depth of 60 feet (18 meters) and ready to explore a whole new world under the sea!

ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER

For divers who already hold an Open Water certification, they can advance their skills by completing the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification. This program is designed to expand your dive knowledge and fine-tune your skills allowing you to explore new environments and discover new ways to enjoy diving while becoming more confident, relaxed and self-reliant underwater.

This program is fun, flexible, and designed to develop your knowledge and skills through adventure diving. You will have the opportunity to expand your certification depth to 100 feet (30 meters) and test your underwater navigation skills on 5 adventure dives. You will be able to choose 3 elective adventure dives to complete your certification. Some of the most popular options include peak performance buoyancy, night diving, underwater photography, drift diving, and fish identification with other options to choose from.

This certification program includes your advanced open water certification allowing you to dive up to a depth of 100 feet /30 meters. It also provides the underwater skills to safely and competently deep dive to explore  more advanced sites. The certification process includes in person training, learning materials, instruction from a PADI Master Diver, all your equipment, 5 adventure dives and a supportive group of new friends to explore the underwater world with you!

PADI Requisites: 18 years or older, basic swimming skills and completed To participate PADI Medical Questionnaire

Day 1:

Welcome to honduras!

Welcome to Paradise - we understand if you already never want to leave! When you arrive at the Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport (RTB), on the stunning island of Roatán, your driver will be waiting for you to arrive to whisk you away in style with private transportation to your beachfront haven in Half Moon Bay.

The rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy at leisure. Take a walk on the beach, relax with a book, or enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear water.

In the evening, enjoy dinner with the group as you get to know your trip host and fellow explorers.

Day 2:

Dive into Discovery

Start your day with a quick and delightful grab-and-go breakfast from the hotel before we make our way to the dive shop. Today your underwater journey begins! 

Over the next few days, you will immerse yourself in scuba classes, laying the foundation for so many unforgettable experiences ahead. Scuba diving is a magical experience. It is like a passport to a whole new, surreal world of unparalleled beauty that you never knew existed. As you go through the week, you will learn to gain confidence in your abilities and learn new skills to unveil the secrets of the ocean.

Day 3:

Beneath the Surface

Begin your morning with another convenient grab-and-go breakfast from our hotel and make your way over to the dive shop. Today our lessons continue as we dive deeper into mastering the art of underwater exploration. 

During an Open Water PADI course, you will learn the art of assembling and maintaining dive gear, as well as crucial safety procedures. You will also learn about the physics of diving and the effects of pressure on the body, how to master buoyancy control, underwater navigation, and more. This course is designed to instill confidence and competence in every aspect of scuba diving so you leave feeling ready to set out and explore a whole new world!

Advanced Open Water divers will be diving further into their certification as they learn how to be a safe deep water diver, learn how to navigate underwater and additional advanced skills like night diving, drift diving, fish identification, and more. 

After another exciting day learning and practicing underwater skills, you’ll have the rest of the day free to relax with a book on the beach, catch a sunset stroll, check out the local shops and enjoy dinner at one of the many local restaurants.

Day 4:

Dive, Dive, Dive

The day starts with a quick breakfast at the hotel before heading over to the dive shop. 

Today is a full day and final day of diving as you test your skills to receive your certification. Your instructor will be taking you out for a full dive experience where you will not only put your new underwater knowledge to the test, but you’ll also have the opportunity to be immersed in the beautiful, vibrant life that is waiting to be explored. 

After a couple of dives, we will make our way back to the dive shop. The rest of the day is yours to relax, soak up another incredible sunset, and enjoy a delightful dinner on the beach. If you’re in the mood for a little more adventure, let your dive instructor know you’re interested in adding on an extra fun dive at night!

Day 5:

Explore and Celebrate

Today is a choose your own adventure day! Alternatively, this day is set aside for anyone who needs additional time to complete their skills test to receive their PADI certification. 

Enjoy a slow, easy morning with breakfast at the hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax, explore, or maybe a little bit of both! 

If you’d like to take advantage of your new skill set and the fact that you are in one of the most amazing dive locations in the world, you’ll have the chance to spend your morning joining in for an additional fun dive. (Please note your departure flight must be the in the afternoon the following day in order to join in on an additional dive this morning).

Women Who Explore will also offer ideas for alternative group activity(s) today. Today is yours to choose your preferred activity to celebrate - opt for relaxation on the beach or explore the island on a final adventure!

Day 6:

Farewell to Honduras

Savor a final delicious breakfast at the hotel, reminiscing on your accomplishments, the camaraderie, and the new underwater world you’ll have the chance to explore. Our guess is you’ll already be planning a reunion trip with your new dive besties! 

Private transportation will drop you back at the RTB airport. We suggest planning for an afternoon flight, allowing you to squeeze in one last dive the day before bidding farewell to this scuba haven!

  • $3,395 per person. Double occupancy at Roatán’s top 4-star hotel located on on Half Moon Bay Beach. Single occupancy available. If you are traveling solo, you will be assigned roommates upon request.

    Trip price also includes PADI Open Water or Advanced Open Water Dive certification.

    A deposit is due at booking to hold your spot with regular monthly payments. Additional payments may be applied to the trip balance prior to payment due dates. Deposit will become non-refundable once the trip is confirmed.

    • PADI certification includes Roatán’s marine park fees, learning materials, instruction, equipment, 4 or 5 dives and certification process

    • Open Water Diver includes e-learning program (mandatory to be completed prior to the start of the trip) and Advanced Open Water includes elective adventure dives such as night diving, drift diving, etc.

  • No prior diving experience is required to participate in this trip. Trip participants will have the opportunity to earn either their PADI Open Water Diver or Advance Open Water Diver certification during the trip.

    Prerequisites to participate include 18+ years, basic swimming and a completed PADI Medical Questionnaire . To participate in the Advanced Open Water Diver, you must already hold an Open Water Diver certificate. Please reach out with any questions.

  • All meals will be provided as noted in the itinerary. Please share any food allergies/sensitivities at the time of booking or reach out to share with the trip host. We always do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions but cannot make any guarantees.

  • This trip requires a minimum number of ladies to register in order for it to be confirmed. Once the trip reaches the minimum participant number, you will receive a trip confirmation email and a link to be added a private online (Facebook/WhatsApp) group just for trip guests. In this group further trip details will be provided along with pre-travel support.

  • Women Who Explore guests will be required to follow the local Covid-19 guidelines and requirements as set forth by the local governing body of the destination being visited.

  • Travel (and medical) insurance is required for anyone traveling on a Women Who Explore adventure. Your insurance should include adequate protection for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment and the specific activities involved on your adventure. Your insurance policy should also include specific Covid-19 cover, including cancellation and curtailment cover if you or a close relative are diagnosed with Covid-19.
