Trek the Alps with Women Who Explore!

This adventure is rated 4 out of 5 difficulty level. This means that adventurers should be comfortable hiking 10+ miles with elevation gain/loss of 3k+ feet. This trip requires that you carry only a day pack and accommodations are in lodges, mountain huts and/or hotels. Highest elevation on the trail does not exceed 9k feet. Training for this adventure should be taken seriously.


Join us on this absolutely EPIC adventure circumnavigating Mont Blanc, Europe's highest peak and the 11th highest peak in the world! On this journey you'll spend 7 days trekking (plus and added rest day!) with a local guide hiking past pristine alpine lakes, traditional villages and farms, exploring ancient churches, learning about the area, and soaking in the magnificent vistas that surround you. A couple days have also been set aside to explore Chamonix so you can relax by the pool, or try another exciting adventure activity like paragliding.

Day 1:

Welcome to the Alps!

Meet at Geneva Airport (GVA), the closest international airport to Chamonix by 2 p.m. Your trip leader will be there to meet you. Together you will head to Chamonix and check into our 4-star hotel for the next two evenings. 

Get settled in and take some time to relax next to the pool while you soak in the views of the surrounding mountains. Later in the evening we will meet in the lobby and head to a local Italian restaurant and enjoy a nice dinner while we get to know each other better.

Day 2:

Today we’ll wake up and enjoy a slow morning in Chamonix. This magical village is nestled in the French Alps, surrounded by majestic, snow-capped peaks. You'll want to soak it all in because Chamonix is the perfect place to prepare for your epic adventure. You can take a stroll through charming streets lined with gear and souvenir shops, enjoy a croissant and cappuccino at a cozy café, or breathe in the crisp mountain air as you soak in the hot tub. If you are up for an adventure, then hop on France’s highest gondola up to explore Aiguille du Midi or try paragliding over the Chamonix valley. It's all about getting in touch with that French Alpine magic before you hit those stunning trails. So, enjoy your little slice of heaven, because the tour du Mont Blanc is waiting to sweep you off your feet tomorrow!

Day 3:

​​To The Mountains We Must Go!

Rise and shine, it's adventure time! Wake up and enjoy breakfast with a view before packing up your backpacks for our big adventure. You’ll get your first view of the Chamonix Valley and the Mont Blanc Massif. Ride the cable car to Bellevue and hike to Col de Tricot, crossing the famous suspension bridge over the Bionnay glacier. End the day in the French resort of Les Contamines.

One of the highlights of the first day is passing through the Bellevue area, where panoramic vistas of the Chamonix Valley and the Aiguilles de Chamonix mountain range unfold. The trail also leads to the charming hamlet of Les Contamines-Montjoie, where we’ll take a short rest, refuel, and immerse ourselves in the Alpine atmosphere before continuing our journey.

As the day progresses, we’ll gradually gain elevation and cross into the stunning Val Montjoie region, known for its picturesque alpine villages and pristine landscapes. Our first day covers a moderate distance, allowing everyone to acclimatize to the terrain and savor the delightful Alpine scenery.

Day 4:

Notre Dame de la Gorge + Alpine Lakes

Today, we’ll explore the historic Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Gorge, a quaint chapel dating back to the 17th century, which adds a touch of cultural richness to this natural wonderland. Continuing on the trail, we’ll gradually ascend to the Bonhomme Pass, where we’ll be rewarded with panoramic views. This high mountain pass stands at an elevation of over 2,329 meters (7,641 feet), offering a sense of accomplishment as well as a chance to witness the dramatic alpine landscapes.

Descending from the pass, the path leads to Les Chapieux, a small hamlet known for its rustic charm and the gateway to the Italian side of the Mont Blanc circuit. We will continue to descend to our accommodations for the night.

Day 5:

Let’s Climb to italy!

Heading straight out of the refuge door in the morning, follow the river as it winds its way through Alpine valleys. Climb up to the Col de la Seigne, 2516 meters above sea level and straddling the French-Italian border. From here you'll descend into Italy's Val Veny, enjoying stunning views of Mont Blanc's southern face. Reach the road at La Visaille, where a short bus ride takes you into the stunning alpine town of Courmayeur where you'll bunk down in a hotel for a spot of extra comfort.

Tonight we will be treated! Our accommodations for the next two nights will be perfect to get you rested up for the second half of your trek! Massages are available at our hotel so if you're interested in booking a spot, let us know because those reservations fill up quickly! Tonight, we'll share a meal together and then the rest of the evening is up to you!

Day 6:

Rest day in courmayeur

Taking a rest day in Courmayeur during the Tour du Mont Blanc is pretty much the best idea ever! Courmayeur is a stunning little town nestled in the Italian Alps, and it's the perfect place to catch your breath and recharge during your hiking adventure.

So, here's what you can do to make the most of your well-deserved rest day: make sure to sleep in, explore the charming town of Courmayeur, savor the Italian cuisine, pamper yourself (remember that massage we mentioned?), Skyway Monte Bianco, and most importantly… get some laundry done!

Day 7:

Hike through the Val Ferret in this far corner of Italy, right next to the Swiss and French borders. Take in the epic scenery of Mont Blanc, the Dent du Géant and the Grandes Jorasses - all 4000+ meter mountains towering above you as the trail winds through the valley, eventually reaching your next mountain hut, Rifugio Elena.

Day 8:

Italy to Switzerland

Grab a bite to eat and coffee at the hut before setting off for the 500 meter climb to the Grand Col Ferret, where you'll step over the border into Switzerland.

Continuing on our path, we eventually reach La Fouly, a charming Swiss hamlet nestled in the Val Ferret. This quaint village is a true mountain gem, featuring traditional Swiss chalets and a picturesque setting that's straight out of a storybook. Here, you'll have the chance to immerse yourself in Swiss mountain culture and delight in delectable Swiss cuisine at local eateries.

Day 9:

Alpine Lakes & Alpine Farms with Cake!

Hop on a short morning bus ride to the beautiful alpine village of Champex Lac, where you can have a morning croissant whilst admiring the reflections in the lake. Hike through the forest to the Alpage Bovine - a traditional alpine farm - to sample cakes and take a break before the descent down to Trient.

Arrive at our accommodations for the evening which are situated in the picturesque village of Trient located at the foot of two glaciers and the Col de la Forclaz. The property offers a bar and a lovely garden to grab a drink and toast to your last evening on the trail!

Day 10:

Mont Blanc + Chamonix Valley

Today you'll hike from the village of Trient up towards the French border at the Col de Balme. After a long climb, you are rewarded with the best views of Mont Blanc and the Chamonix Valley (where you started from) down below. Descend the other side into the village of Le Tour, where you can enjoy a drink before a short bus ride back to Chamonix where the trip finishes.

We will head back to our hotel and check in for the evening. Take some time to relax, take a dip in the pool, or take a nap. Around 7 p.m.,  we will meet for our final evening together to celebrate our grand adventure over a delicious dinner.

Day 11:

The jewel of the french alps!

After finishing the Tour du Mont Blanc, you deserve to treat yourself to the pleasures of this charming mountain town. Chamonix is a haven for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers, and it's just the place to unwind and celebrate your achievement.

Start your exploration with a stroll through the bustling streets, where you'll find a delightful mix of shops, cafes, and artisanal boutiques. You can pick up some souvenirs or indulge in some delicious French pastries while you take in the Alpine ambiance.

For those seeking more adventure, Chamonix offers a plethora of options. How about taking a cable car ride to the Aiguille du Midi, one of the highest peaks in the region, for breathtaking panoramic views of the Mont Blanc massif? Or perhaps you'd like to try paragliding and soar through the skies like a bird. Hiking and rock climbing are also popular activities for those looking to further explore the mountains.

Day 12:

Au revoir!

Au revoir! The time has come to say our good-byes to the Alps and each other. Wake up and enjoy breakfast at our accommodations before packing up and checking out. A transfer will be arranged to the Geneva Airport (GVA) for those flying out that day.

    If you are traveling solo, you will be assigned roommates upon request.

    A deposit is due at booking to hold your spot with regular monthly payments. Additional payments may be applied to the trip balance prior to payment due dates.

  • • 4 nights stay at a resort style mountain lodge in Chamonix. Double occupancy room with views of Mont Blanc, Brévent and Les Aiguilles. Hotel also has a heated swimming pool, sauna, and onsite spa.

    • 5 nights stay in remote mountain huts and guesthouses, and 2 nights in village hotels during the trek. You will have your own bed in a shared room with other hikers during the trek. Blankets and pillows will be provided at each of the accommodations. Hotel rooms along the trail are double occupancy.

    • Private group airport transfer from Geneva International Airport (GVA) to and from your hotel in Chamonix back to Geneva International Airport (GVA)

    • Private, fully guided 8-day 65+ mile trek through the heart of the Alps where you will visit France, Switzerland and Italy and hike past pristine lakes, traditional farms and ancient churches as you circumnavigate the world’s 11th highest mountain, Mont Blanc.

    • Luggage transfer for the duration of the trek so you can enjoy the trail only carrying your essentials in your day pack while hiking

    • Travelers insurance to cover medical expenses while traveling abroad (proof of insurance required)

  • This trip requires a minimum number of ladies to register in order for it to be confirmed. Once the trip reaches the minimum participant number, you will receive a trip confirmation email and a link to be added a private Facebook group just for trip guests.   • Travel (and medical) insurance is required for anyone traveling on a Women Who Explore adventure. Your insurance should include adequate protection for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment and the specific activities involved on your adventure. Your insurance policy should also include specific Covid-19 cover, including cancellation and curtailment cover if you or a close relative are diagnosed with Covid-19.
