Who Are The Junglekeepers

The Junglekeepers is a non-profit organization that is working on the front lines of protecting the Peruvian Amazon. They are a team of indigenous leaders and international experts who have been working for more than a decade on the ground, doing research and working to sustainably protect the land. They have been protecting the land by pushing back on to defend the forest against illegal logging and they are contributing to scientific research by documenting the species found, including new species reported for the area.

Their rangers patrol hundreds of kilometers per year. Within the Junglekeepers protected land, the animals are safe, the ancient trees are safe, and the forest is free to function as it has for millions of years. They are currently protecting 138,000 acres right now and have a goal/need to protect another 170,000 acres in the near future.

For each women who travels with Women Who Explore, a donation to Junglekeepers will be made on their behalf and will go to do the following:

  • 60% will be directed towards land acquisition: the best way to guarantee the land is protected is to own it. This is the only way to fight against illegal logging and land grabs

  • 34% will go towards the ranger program to pay for the salary of ranger and admin staff, buy food, equipment, maintain our boats, ranger stations and other operational expenses

  • 4% will be directed to help pay for legal & administrative fees

  • 2% will be directed to their science & research program
