Our Montana Campout is officially a WRAP for 2025 - and what an unforgettable adventure it was! A full event recap is coming your way soon, but I couldn’t wait to shout out the true MVP of the weekend: the Dod Outdoors tents.

Leading up to the campout, we had weeks of perfect early summer weather - high 70s during the day, low 50s at night. Perfect for river floats, fly fishing, and cozy fireside chats. But when our four-day event kicked off? Cue the rain. Three straight days of cold, consistent downpour. Just a brief break for our Summer Solstice ceremony (as if the universe knew we needed it), and then the skies opened back up. Temps dropped to the 50s during the day and low 40s at night. We even woke up Saturday to snow-dusted mountains surrounding Tobacco River Ranch.

Some tents... didn’t make it.
But the ones that did?
Dod Outdoors. Every. Single. One.

I’ll be honest - I was nervous. As an Arizona gal, I’d never tested canvas tents in this kind of wet weather. I always imagined canvas was reserved for winter, horse-packing trips, and, let’s be real, cowboy movies. But these tents were next level. Zero leaks. Rock solid. A few guests whose own tents gave out ended up moving into extra Dod tents we quickly set up and they stayed warm, dry, and happy.

We used a total of 15 Dod tents, including 9 Chimaki canvas tents. Once we figured out the setup for the first one, the rest went up like a dream. Yes, there’s a learning curve with canvas, especially with guy lines and stakes, but once dialed in, they held strong. Dod’s 1-Pull nylon tents also performed incredibly well, and their Kinoko Mushroom Tent and Tsuku Base Tent became essential dry zones for classes and lounging. In fact, the Tsuku was the perfect cozy haven for our meditation class, with rain trickling gently on the canvas like a calming soundtrack.

We even got creative with Kama Tarps, using them to block both rain and chilly breezes in one of our covered class areas. Total game-changer.

Huge, heartfelt thanks to Dod Outdoors for keeping us dry, grounded, and comfortable through a truly wild Montana weekend. These tents didn’t just hold up, they showed up. We’re Dod fans for life.
