This adventure is rated 2 out of 5 difficulty level. Moderate level activities (i.e. short to medium hikes up to 5 miles, some elevation, intro to new skill/activity that is guided by 3rd party like mountain biking, climbing, rafting, etc.). Activities are included, but optional if outside of your comfort zone.

We’re heading to Manuel Antonio, a stunning hilltop paradise where rainforest meets the Pacific Ocean. This region is one of the most biodiverse in the world—full of wildlife, lush jungle, and golden sunsets. This week-long adventure blends adventure, nature, and culture.

Wake up to magic of the jungle each morning as you sip coffee on the wrap-around balcony, visit the Boruca tribe and connect with their rich cultural heritage through a natural dye workshop, explore waterfalls, search for wildlife through the jungle, relax on sunset cruise, and reconnect with yourself through a magical PURA VIDA adventure

ITINERARY

    • Welcome to Costa Rica! Arrive at the Juan Santamaría Airport (SJO) anytime today and grab the shuttle to your hotel for the evening. Check in to the hotel begins at 2 p.m. You’ll catch up with the rest of the group here today before making your way to Manuel Antonio tomorrow morning.

    • The rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy the outdoor pool onsite.

    • Since flights may arrive late in the evening, dinner is at your leisure tonight. For those who are already at the hotel, you will be able to make plans for dinner together.

    • Wake up at your leisure and enjoy breakfast this morning before we check out. Our transfer will pick us up today between 10-11 AM.

    • We will make a stop to pick up snacks for the drive, cold drinks, or anything you may have forgotten to pack before a 3+ hour scenic drive down the Pacific Coast to Manuel Antonio.

    • Arrive at the Airbnb nestled in the jungle and settle in, take a dip in the pool, or try to spotting wildlife from the wrap around balcony.

    • This evening we will enjoy a 4-course group dinner prepared and served by a private chef.

    • Meals: Breakfast and dinner

    • Wake up to the sounds or the jungle and enjoy a traditional Costa Rican breakfast and coffee.

    • Visit Manuel Antonio National Park on a guided tour with a trained bilingual wildlife expert. After enjoy free time at Playa Manuel Antonio, inside the national park to swim.

    • Lunch at your leisure.

    • Free afternoon to enjoy as you wish. We recommend spending it at the beach inside the national park and/or on Playa Espadilla. Playa Espadilla is the main beach where you can surf, parasail, get a massage, and grab some lounge chairs to relax. Spend the day playing in the waves and soak up some Vitamin D.

    • Dinner tonight is at your leisure. There are tons of great restaurants with stunning sunset views to check out and we have some recommendations.

    • Meals: Breakfast

    • Wake up to the sounds or the jungle and enjoy a traditional delicious, fresh prepared breakfast and coffee.

    • Today is a free day to enjoy as you’d like. Relax by the pool with a book and watch for wildlife, spend the day at Biesanz Bay with a beach massage or head to the jungle for a thrilling canyoning adventure. Today there are tow optional activities you can select.

      • Option One: Massage at Biesanz Bay with Itza. This is everything you imagine it is. A beautiful beach, a lovely breeze and a relaxing massage.

      • Option Two: Enjoy an adventure course that takes you through different activities like zip lining, monkey drop, and canyoning down a 95 foot waterfall, the highlight of the course. After completing this adventure course, you’ll be rewarded with a delicious typical Costa Rican lunch. Please note this is not a private tour and may be shared with other travelers outside our group.

    • The afternoon is free to enjoy as you wish. We recommend sunset from the main beach or one of the many lovely restaurants boasting panoramic views.

    • Dinner is at your leisure tonight.

    • Meals: Breakfast, lunch included with optional adventure course activity

    • Wake up to the sounds of the jungle and enjoy a delicious Costa Rican breakfast.

    • Today’s adventure brings you south along the Pan American Highway and up into the Talamanca mountains to the home of the Boruca tribe. Learn about their history and the cultural significance of their balsa wood masks.

    • Watch a live mask carving demonstration and paint your own hand-carved mask to take home with you.

    • Discover how the Boruca use plants to make natural dyes and create textiles and use traditional methods to dye your own tote bag.

    • Return to Manuel Antonio where the rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish. We suggest heading to the beach to catch a sunset.

    • Dinner is at your leisure.

    • Meals: Breakfast and lunch

    • Wake up to the sounds of the jungle and enjoy breakfast while you watch for wildlife that frequently visits.

    • Today is another choose your own adventure day. Relax with a massage on the beach, grab a book and relax by the pool, try a surfing lesson, or the optional chocolate and coffee tour.

      • Optional: Chocolate & Coffee Tour - visit a local farm to learn about the cultural and biological background of cacao, coffee, and sugarcane.

    • Guided jungle night walk searching for wildlife. Typical Costa Rica dinner provided after tour.

    • Meals: Breakfast and dinner, lunch with optional activity

    • Enjoy an early breakfast and the jungle views around you.

    • We’ll take a 1.5 hour drive scenic down the Pan-American Highway before hopping into a 4×4 jeep for a short ride to Nauyaca waterfall. Here we will have a couple hours to swim, explore, and relax.

    • Stop for lunch in Domincial along with some free time to walk along the beach or explore the artisan shops.

    • Return to Manuel Antonio where the rest of the afternoon and evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure.

    • Meals: Breakfast

    • Wake up and savor a delicious breakfast while you enjoy the sounds of the birds.

    • This morning allows for some free time to take a walk on the beach, get a massage, shop or explore the nearby nature park.

    • Meet back at the house around 12:30 p.m. and together we will head to the marina for an afternoon cruising the coast, snorkeling, and a sunset dinner.

    • Meals: Breakfast and dinner

    • Wake up to the sounds or the jungle and enjoy a traditional Costa Rican breakfast and coffee before packing up and checking out.

    • One private group transfer back to the Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) will be provided. Plan to arrive to the airport around 12 p.m.

  • $3,395 USD shared occupancy in a bedroom with 2-3 beds and a private bathroom, balcony and kitchenette.

    $3,995 USD single occupancy in a private master suite with a bathroom and master balcony with kitchenette.

    If you are traveling solo, you will be assigned a roommate upon request. Rooms are assigned on a first come basis.

  • • 2 days / 1 night in a double occupancy room at a hotel near the airport. Hotel includes a pool, fitness room and 24/7 airport shuttle.

    • 8 days/ 7 nights accommodations in a beautiful home located in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, surrounded by the jungle with a private pool. Your booking includes your own bed in a shared bedroom. Each bedroom has a private bathroom, balcony and small kitchenette.

    • Welcome dinner with a private chef experience and all other meals as noted in itinerary (8 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 3 dinners).

    • Transportation to and from the San Jose international airport (SJO) on designated arrival and departure dates and time.

    • Nauyaca Waterfall excursion and visit to Dominical

  • All meals will be provided as noted in the itinerary. Please reach out to the trip host after booking if you have any food allergies/sensitivities. We always do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions but cannot make any guarantees.

  • This trip requires a minimum number of women to register in order for it to be confirmed. Once the trip reaches the minimum participant number, you will receive a trip confirmation email and a link to be added a private Facebook group just for trip guests. In this group further trip details will be provided along with pre-travel support. Please let us know if you do not have or use Facebook (see contact information below).

    All deposits are non-refundable at the time of booking, but may be transferable if done so within the timeframe outlined in the Terms of Service.

    Once a trip has been confirmed (no matter the booking or trip timeline), the deposit is both non-refundable and non-transferable. Please make sure you are purchasing adequate travel insurance at the time of booking to ensure you are covered in case you need to cancel.

    Please note: some of our trips have a non-refundable fee that will be stated in the trip description. Please make sure to refer to the full Terms of Service to make sure you understand fully the Cancellation Policy of each trip.

  • Travel (and medical) insurance is required for anyone traveling on a Women Who Explore adventure. Your insurance should include adequate protection for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment and the specific activities involved on your adventure. Your insurance policy should also include specific Covid-19 cover, including cancellation and curtailment cover if you or a close relative are diagnosed with Covid-19.
