Faroe Islands

July 11 - 18, 2026

Explore these remote islands with us!

A circular chart with five ascending bars, colored from dark teal to light teal, indicating difficulty levels from 1 to 5, with the current level highlighted as 1/5.

This adventure is rated 1 out of 5. This means that while there might be a hike or two that is more strenuous than a 1, there are easy ways to opt out or choose a different activity. This trip consists of a decent amount of driving to explore the islands on small windy roads. Visiting Stora Dimun does require some hiking and involves heights on tall ledges. This particular day would be considered a 2/5. Kalsoy Island has a short hike, but will require walking up a grassy, sometimes muddy and uneven path (not really a designated trail), to get a good view of the Kallur Lighthouse.

Embark on an unforgettable 8-day journey through the stunning Faroe Islands, a remote archipelago of eighteen islands located in the North Atlantic Ocean between Iceland and Norway. This country offers a dramatic blend of rugged landscapes, untamed beauty, and a rich cultural heritage that make it an ideal destination for an off-the-beaten-path experience.

This women's-only adventure promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Spend the week exploring different islands as you go chasing waterfalls, visit small remote villages, take boat rides to nearby towering cliffs and caves, search for wildlife, and hike through lush green valleys enjoying breathtaking views of the North Atlantic Ocean while forging new friendships and celebrating the spirit of female camaraderie.

Get ready for a week to bask in this unspoiled paradise, where nature's beauty and adventure seamlessly blend into an extraordinary voyage tailored just for you.

ITINERARY

    • Your Nordic adventure begins upon landing at the Vágar Airport (FAE). Your Women Who Explore trip host will be at the airport to meet you along with your other travel mates. Please arrive before 3:00 p.m.

    • Together we’ll head to Tórshavn and check into our central 5 bedroom apartment for the week. The afternoon is yours to relax and get settled or head out to explore and wander along the narrow streets that lead down to a charming harbor boardwalk.

    • Dinner?

    • After breakfast, we’ll venture to the northern reaches of Streymoy Island to the quaint village of Saksun and its unspoiled allure.

    • Choose an optional hike that best suits your preference, such as an easy walk along the black sand beach of the lagoon, climbing the surrounding hills and take in the panoramic views of the Faroe Islands' scenic beauty, or walking to the nearby waterfall. Hikes may have an extra fee.

    • Optional waterfall drive if weather cooperates.

    • This is a packed lunch day

    • Dinner at your leisure

    • We’ll do the Traelanipan & Bosdalafossur Waterfall hike (lake above the ocean). This hike is about 4 miles round trip, depending on the amount of exploration you choose to do. It is rated as easy, but if rainy, it can be slightly more difficult because of mud.

    • Drive to Mulafosser Waterfall. This is a short walk from roadside parking.

    • Today we will be visiting the towering Vestmanna Sea Cliffs!

    • From Vestmanna harbor, we set out on a 1.5-hour boat trip along the towering bird cliffs. Puffins flutter overhead, guillemots cry out from ledges, and curious seals pop up beside the boat. You may spot puffins diving and surfacing with beaks full of fish before flying up to their cliffside burrows, perched as high as 600 meters.

    • Optional lunch is at the restaurant at the sea harbor.

    • Once home you will have a free afternoon/evening in Torshavn!

    • This day is SUCH a treat! Amidst the endless blue of the North Atlantic lies Stóra Dímun — a remote and almost mythical island, located 4.5 nautical miles northeast of Suðuroy. Here, Eva and Jógvan Jón live in harmony with nature, tending sheep and cultivating the land just as generations before them have done.

    • This exclusive day trip offers a rare invitation into a world few ever glimpse. Welcomed by Eva and Jógvan Jón themselves, you will be guided around their secluded farm, listening to personal stories of life shaped by isolation, tradition, and the raw beauty of the elements. After the tour, you are invited to share coffee and homemade cake, either within the warmth of their home or, on still summer days, beneath the open sky with sweeping views over the ocean.

    • To reach Stóra Dímun is to embrace a spirit of adventure. Arrival demands agility and courage, as you step directly from the boat onto the bare rocks of the island’s rugged shoreline. From there, a narrow path winds its way along the cliffside, ascending over 100 meters to the farmstead — a journey suited only for those with sure footing and a heart for heights.

    • For this adventure we will bring a packed lunch and extra snacks. Once home, you can walk to a nearby restaurant for dinner in Torshavn or stay in for a home-cooked meal.

    • After breakfast we will make our way to the town of Klaksvík on Borðoy Island. We will walk straight onboard the ferry to Kalsoy Island departing at 10:00am.

    • The ferry takes roughly 20 minutes and when we arrive, a shuttle bus awaits us. A local experienced driver will take us through the dark and narrow tunnels connecting the valleys on Kalsoy Island. We will head all the way to the remote village Trøllanes.

    • When you get to Trøllanes at 11:00am, a local tour guide will greet you. From this uncrowded little village, your guide will take you along the mountain path to Kallur Lighthouse on the very tip of this outlying island.

    • This less than one hour hike will take you to one of the most iconic sights in the Faroe Islands.

    • When you get back to the village Trøllanes at 13:00pm, a friendly driver awaits you. The driver will take you to the village Mikladalur. You will spend some hours independently in Mikladalur enjoying the tranquil village life.

    • After the short ferry ride back to our vehicle, we will take a look at a few nearby shops and then make our way home.

    • Dinner can be out on the town or cooked at home.

    • Today, after a quick breakfast we will make our way to the world’s largest sea cliffs! We'll explore the pristine cliffs along Hestur’s west coast from the comfort of a boat, reaching one of the most remote corners of the Faroe Islands. Here, the only residents are seabirds, nesting high and low up on the cliffs.

    • The journey starts from the ferry terminal at Gamlarætt, only 15 minutes southwest of Tórshavn, where you’ll board a high-speed rib boat for a thrilling ride. Your captain, a local expert, will ensure your safety as you navigate through the impressive landscapes of the Faroe Islands.

    • We’ll do a little exploring around this area before making our way back to Torshavn for another free afternoon. We can make recommendations for local shops for wool and any last minute gifts.

    • A packed lunch is recommended for today and dinner is out on the town or at the apartment as you’re getting ready to head home tomorrow.

    • We will enjoy breakfast before heading to the airport. Most flights leave midday, but we will communicate about the transfer time before flights are booked.

    • It’s been great getting to know everyone and we can’t wait to see you on another adventure!
