Moderate level activities (i.e. short to medium hikes up to 5 miles, some elevation, intro to new skill/activity that is guided by 3rd party like mountain biking, climbing, rafting, etc.). Activities are included, but optional if outside of your comfort zone.



ITINERARY

Private airport transfers for arrivals in Cusco with an English speaking female guide.
Check-in to hotel and get settled in.

After breakfast, we’ll venture to the northern reaches of Streymoy Island to the quaint village of Saksun and its unspoiled allure.
Choose an optional hike that best suits your preference, such as an easy walk along the black sand beach of the lagoon, climbing the surrounding hills and take in the panoramic views of the Faroe Islands' scenic beauty, or walking to the nearby waterfall. Hikes may have an extra fee.
Optional waterfall drive if weather cooperates.

Breakfast will be at the hotel.
After checking out, we will take a 2 hour transfer to Ollantaytambo.
Once we arrive in Ollantaytambo, we will take a scenic 1.5 hour Vistadome train ride to Aguas Calientes.
You will have the afternoon to explore Machu Picchu Pueblo
Dinner will be together at the hotel.

Quick breakfast since we want to leave our hotel early to see sunrise at Machu Picchu.
5:30am bus ride to Machu Picchu
Once we arrive we will have a 2 hour Citadel tour. Timing depends on availability.
We will have 2nd entry permits for one of the mountains Huchuy or Huayna Picchu (based on availability at time of booking) IS THIS OPTIONAL??
Lunch in Aguas Calientes on your own in town.
Afternoon Vistadome Train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.
Once back at the hotel, the evening is yours! Restaurants are within easy walking distance.

Our morning tour does not start until mid-morning, so your hotel breakfast is at your leisure!
At 10am we will visit the Ollantaytambo Archaeological Park. This half day tour takes your around the fortified city, built by the Inca Pachacutec. It served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui during the Spanish conquest.
After we finish our tour, we will enjoy a cooking class where we learn to make both Peruvian and Andean foods! We will even start with making our own Pisco Sour cocktail.
The evening is yours to explore! If you are hungry after all the amazing food from the cooking class, it’s an easy walk from the hotel to nearby restaurants.

We will eat breakfast and then checkout of our hotel.
After checkout, we will head out on an excursion to Chinchero and Maras Saltpans. While in Chinchero, we will be able to do some exploring and see a weaving demonstration at the Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco (CTTC). a non-profit organization that promotes the empowerment of weavers through the revitalization and sustainable practice of Peruvian ancestral textiles in the Cusco region.
Then, you will visit Maras. Its main attraction, apart from its church, that dates from the colonial period, are the salt mines located near the town.
We will enjoy a family style lunch in Maras at Unu Restaurant which utilizes local products.
In the afternoon, we will head to the Mountain View Experience where we get to picnic with llamas at sunset! We will be surrounded by the Andes, with spectacular views of Apu “Verónica.”
You are free to relax the rest of the evening and enjoy your hot tub.

After breakfast, you get to choose your own adventure!
You have the option to do an ATV Tour or Horseback riding tour. Your choice is included.
The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore the city more.
Tonight, we will have our farewell dinner at the hotel restaurant.

There are 2 transfers included today. It is 90 minutes from Mountain View Experience, so we do not recommend an early morning flight out of CUZ.

If you are traveling solo, you will be assigned a roommate upon request. Rooms are assigned on a first come basis.
A deposit is due at booking to hold your spot with regular monthly payments. Additional payments may be applied to the trip balance prior to payment due dates.

While meals are not provided on this trip, the house will remain stocked with basic food items for all guests to utilize. This will include (but not limited to) coffee, milk, cheese, bread, sandwich fixings, vegetables, snacks etc. Some dinner ingredients will be purchased and arranged for the group ahead of the trip such as pasta, rice, and soups. Please reach out to the trip host after booking if you have any food allergies/sensitivities. We always do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions but cannot make any guarantees.

This trip requires a minimum number of women to register in order for it to be confirmed. Once the trip reaches the minimum participant number, you will receive a trip confirmation email and a link to be added a private Facebook group just for trip guests. In this group further trip details will be provided along with pre-travel support. Please let us know if you do not have or use Facebook (see contact information below).

Travel (and medical) insurance is required for anyone traveling on a Women Who Explore adventure. Your insurance should include adequate protection for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment and the specific activities involved on your adventure. Your insurance policy should also include specific Covid-19 cover, including cancellation and curtailment cover if you or a close relative are diagnosed with Covid-19.
