Get ready for eight days of breathtaking views and soul-filling experiences in the heart of Peru’s Sacred Valley. This women’s journey kicks off in Cusco, where we’ll wander through vibrant streets, snuggle some llamas at a local farm, and soak up the magic of Incan history. Together, we’ll board the train to Aguas Calientes for the ultimate bucket-list moment, watching the sunrise over Machu Picchu, before exploring its ancient ruins with our private guide. Add in a colorful cooking class featuring Peruvian flavors, an ATV or horseback riding experience, a hands-on weaving demo with local women, a dreamy sunset picnic with llamas and hot tub soaks under the stars, and you’ve got the perfect mix of culture, connection, and adventure!

ITINERARY

    • Arrive in Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUS) in Cusco, Peru where you will be greeted by your English speaking driver for a transfer to your hotel.

    • Check-in to hotel and get settled in.

    • Join the group for a welcome dinner at Pachapapa.

    • Meals included: Dinner

    • After breakfast, enjoy a city tour with a local female guide learning about the rich history from both the Inca and colonial eras. You’ll visit the main square, city’s Cathedral, and the Convent of Santo Domingo.

    • Next, your guide will take to to Sacsayhuaman, an important archeological site that overlooks the city. After stop to experience the charm of a local llama farm to interact with these iconic animals of the Andes.

    • Return to town for free time to enjoy lunch and explore Cusco as you’d like.

    • Dinner at your leisure.

    • Meals included: Breakfast

    • Enjoy breakfast before packing up and checking out. Today our adventure takes us in to Cusco Valley.

    • Relax on a scenic 2 hour transfer to the village of Ollantaytambo.

    • Once we arrive in Ollantaytambo, we will take the scenic 1.5 hour Vistadome train ride to Aguas Calientes. This is the train with panoramic windows offering spectacular views of nature along the way.

    • You will have the afternoon to explore Machu Picchu Pueblo, also known by Aguas Clientes.

    • Dinner will be together at the hotel.

    • Meals included: Breakfast and dinner

    • We’ll have a quick and early breakfast since we are off to see sunrise at Machu Picchu today! We’ll have to get in line early to catch the 5:30am bus ride to Machu Picchu.

    • Once we arrive, our local guide will take us on a 2 hour Citadel tour. Exactly timing of the tour depends on availability.

    • Each guest will have 2nd entry permit to hike Huchuy Picchu. Based on availability at the time of booking.

    • Then it is time to head back to Aguas Calientes where you can enjoy lunch at a place of your choice.

    • In the afternoon, we will take the Vistadome Train back to Ollantaytambo.

    • Here we will check into our hotel for the evening and the rest of the night is yours to enjoy! Restaurants are within easy walking distance.

    • Meals included: Breakfast

    • Today’s morning activity does not start until later, so you can enjoy hotel breakfast at your leisure!

    • At 10am we will visit the stunning Ollantaytambo Archaeological Park. This half day tour takes you around the fortified city, built by the Inca Pachacutec. It served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui during the Spanish conquest.

    • After the tour is finished, we will dive into a hands-on cooking class where we will learn to make both Peruvian and Andean foods and we will start by making our own Pisco Sour cocktail! Then we will enjoy lunch after all our hard work.

    • The evening is yours to explore Ollanta as the locals call it! Enjoy dinner (or maybe just dessert), take a stroll, explore markets or enjoy some down time at the hotel.

    • Meals included: Breakfast and lunch (cooking class)

    • We will enjoy breakfast before checking out of our hotel. Today our adventure takes us for a visit to Chinchero and to the Maras Saltpans,.

    • Chinchero is believed to be the mythical birthplace of the rainbow and famous for its textile and Inca history. Here we will be able to do some exploring and see a weaving demonstration at the Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco (CTTC), a non-profit organization that promotes the empowerment of weavers through the revitalization and sustainable practice of Peruvian ancestral textiles in the Cusco region.

    • Next up is a visit to Maras, known for its church that dates from the colonial period and infamous salt mines located near the town.

    • We will enjoy a family style lunch in Maras at Unu Restaurant which utilizes local products.

    • In the afternoon, we will head to the Mountain View Experience where we will settle in for the next two nights.

    • Tonight we dine with llamas at sunset! Enjoy a light picnic style dinner surrounded by the Andes, with spectacular views of Apu “Verónica.” We will share this moment with the adorable llamas and alpacas that live on the property.

    • The rest of the evening is yours to relax and enjoy the views from YOUR hot tub.

    • Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

    • After a leisurely breakfast, it is a choose your own adventure day!

    • The property offers the option to choose between a guided ATV tour or a guided horseback riding tour exploring the pampas of Maras. Your choice is included. May arrange additional activities with property directly onsite.

    • Lunch is at your leisure today and is available at the onsite restaurant.

    • The rest of the day is yours to explore the property, hang out with the llamas, or explore the property more. Mountain bikes are also available for a self guided ride.

    • Enjoy your hot tub later with your roomie and some epic views to wind down today. You will be able to arrange one time for the hot tub to be fired up today with the resort staff.

    • Tonight, we will have our farewell dinner at the hotel restaurant.

    • Meals included: Breakfast and dinner

    • Enjoy breakfast and say Adios to your new amigas before packing up and checking out.

    • Two group transfers will be provided to the Cusco airport (CUZ) today. Mountain View Experience is a 90 minute drive to the airport. Please book your flights for 12 pm or later to be included on the group transfers.

  • • International flights: Arrive and depart from Cusco International Airport (CUZ). You may want to look at options for Lima (LIM) as there are typically more options from your home city. From Lima you can book a domestic flight to Cusco.

  • This trip requires a minimum number of women to register in order for it to be confirmed. Once the trip reaches the minimum participant number, you will receive a trip confirmation email and a link to be added a private Facebook group just for trip guests. In this group further trip details will be provided along with pre-travel support. Please let us know if you do not have or use Facebook (see contact information below).

    All deposits are non-refundable at the time of booking, but may be transferable if done so within the timeframe outlined in the Terms of Service. Once a trip has been confirmed (no matter the booking or trip timeline), the deposit is both non-refundable and non-transferable. Please make sure you are purchasing adequate travel insurance at the time of booking to ensure you are covered in case you need to cancel.

    Please note that once the Peru trip is confirmed, the non refundable deposit will increase by an additional $300 above the initial deposit to cover the fees for the Mountain View Experience and Machu Picchu permits.

  • Travel (and medical) insurance is required for anyone traveling on a Women Who Explore adventure. Your insurance should include adequate protection for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment and the specific activities involved on your adventure. Your insurance policy should also include specific Covid-19 cover, including cancellation and curtailment cover if you or a close relative are diagnosed with Covid-19.
