This adventure is rated 4 out of 5 with a hike that is a 4 out of 5 difficulty level. This means that adventurers should be comfortable hiking 10+ miles with elevation gain/loss of 3k+ feet. This trip requires that you carry only a day pack and accommodations are in lodges, mountain huts and/or hotels. Highest elevation on the trail does not exceed 9k feet. Training for this adventure should be taken seriously.


Women Who Explore is excited to be teaming up with Charlotte Massey (@charlottegetscreative) for an EPIC adventure circumnavigating Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest peak and the 11th highest peak in the world!!

On this 7-day guided trek (plus a rest, aka spa day! and a few extra to explore Chamonix), you’ll hike through charming villages, slow down with curated picnic lunches to enjoy awe-inspiring mountain views and enjoy the iconic ri along the way. This isn’t only a hike, it’s also a chance to reconnect with yourself and nature through guided journaling sessions at both the beginning and end of the trek led by your incredible host, Charlotte. On top of that you will have a free day on both the front and back ends of the trek so you can explore the Chamonix Valley or get into another wild adventure…. paragliding anyone?

Come solo or with a friend—and return feeling grounded, inspired, creatively recharged and proud of your incredible accomplishment!

Charlotte Massey is a community organizer and entrepreneur based in Seattle. She shares her adventures through her Instagram, Charlotte Gets Creative, and runs a Seattle-based community centered around joyful connection through crafting, picnics, and local adventures.

Charlotte is the Co-Founder of the US Chamber of Connection, a national nonprofit building the civic infrastructure for belonging by supporting community leaders and local governments, and Gnara Apparel, an award-winning women’s hiking apparel brand. She is Seattle Forbes 30 Under 30, a TEDx speaker, and an experienced event host and traveler who was awarded a Watson Fellowship to research gender dynamics in the mountain guiding industry around the world.

Charlotte hosted a this trek with Women Who Explore in 2024 and she is thrilled to return for another Tour du Mont Blanc!

ITINERARY

    • Meet at Geneva Airport (GVA), the closest international airport to Les Houches by mid-afternoon. Your trip leader will be there to meet you. Together you will head to Les Houches and check into your accommodations.

    • After settling in, we will head out that evening for a welcome dinner.

    • Meals: Dinner

    • After breakfast, we will have a relaxed day exploring the Chamonix Valley.

    • Charlotte will be leading a guided journaling session today designed to help you ground your intentions.

    • If you are up for an adventure in the afternoon, then hop on France’s highest gondola up to explore Aiguille du Midi or try paragliding over the Chamonix valley. You can also relax, enjoy a coffee and croissant or venture out for a little shopping.

    • Meet your guide for a pre-trek trail briefing later in the afternoon.

    • Dinner is at your leisure this evening.

    • Meals: Breakfast

    • Today we are packing up and starting our trekking adventure!

    • Ride the cable car to Bellevue and hike to Col de Tricot, crossing the famous suspension bridge over the Bionnay glacier. End the day in the French resort of Les Contamines.

    • Take time to explore the historic Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Gorge, a quaint chapel dating back to the 14th century, which adds a touch of cultural richness to this natural wonderland. Continuing on the trail, we’ll gradually ascend the Col du Bonhomme Pass which stands at an elevation of over 7,641 feet.

    • At the end of today’s hike, we will take a short shuttle down to the local town of Bourg St. Maurice for a night at a comfortable and trendy base camp with a fabulous terrace to enjoy a drink and delicious food.

    • Today we will shuttle back to the main trail at Ville des Glaciers, and after a long but smooth climb up, we hike across the border to Italy!

    • Climb up to the Col de la Seigne, 8254 feet above sea level and straddling the French-Italian border. From here you'll descend into Italy's Val Veny, enjoying stunning views of Mont Blanc's southern face. From here we descend to Courmayeur where you’ll spend the next two nights at a hotel.a

      Elevation: 1000ft up · 1200ft down

    • Taking a rest day in Courmayeur during the Tour du Mont Blanc is pretty much the best idea ever!

    • So, here's what you can do to make the most of your well-deserved rest day: make sure to sleep in, explore the charming town of Courmayeur, savor the Italian cuisine, pamper yourself (remember that massage we mentioned?), Skyway Monte Bianco, and most importantly… get some laundry done!

    • Breakfast

    • Hike through the Val Ferret, right next to the Swiss and French borders. We’ll take in the epic scenery of Mont Blanc, the Dent du Géant and the Grandes Jorasses - all 13,000+ feet mountains towering above you as the trail winds through the valley.

    • Our next mountain hut is Rifugio Elena. Here we will grab a bite to eat and coffee at the hut before setting off for the 1600ft climb to the Grand Col Ferret, where you'll step over the border into Switzerland.

    • We eventually reach La Fouly, a charming Swiss hamlet nestled in the Val Ferret and our home for the night.

    • An early start today! Grab a quick bite and coffee at the hut before setting off for the 2,000ft climb up to the Grand Col Ferret, where you'll step over the border into Switzerland.

    • Another parade of epic alpine vistas awaits as you enter the final stage of today's trek, with the trail winding through to the lovely village of La Fouly.

    • This quaint village features traditional Swiss chalets straight out of a storybook. You'll have the chance to immerse yourself in Swiss mountain culture and delectable Swiss cuisine at local eateries.

      Walking Time: 7 hrs
      Elevation: 2000ft up · 3300ft down

    • Hop on a short morning bus ride to the beautiful alpine village of Champex Lac, where we’ll grab a morning croissant.

    • Hike through the forest to the Alpage Bovine - a traditional alpine farm - to sample cakes and take a break before the descent down to Trient.

    • Arrive at our accommodations for the evening which are situated in the picturesque village of Trient located at the foot of two glaciers and the Col de la Forclaz. The property offers a bar and a lovely garden to grab a drink and toast to your last evening on the trail!

      Elevation: 2500ft up · 3000ft down

    • Today you'll hike from the village of Trient up towards the French border at the Col de Balme.

    • We will have the best views of Mont Blanc and the Chamonix Valley (where you started from) down below.

    • Descend the other side into the village of Le Tour, where you can enjoy a drink before a short bus ride back to Chamonix where the trip finishes.

    • We’ll walk to our hotel after being dropped off by the bus. Take a shower, relax and then around 7 p.m.,  we will meet for our final evening together.

    • After finishing the Tour du Mont Blanc, you deserve to treat yourself to the pleasures of this charming mountain town. Chamonix is a haven for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers.

    • Charlotte will be leading a guided journaling session today designed to help you reflect on your transformation.

    • For those seeking more adventure, Chamonix offers a plethora of options. How about taking a cable car ride to the Aiguille du Midi, one of the highest peaks in the region, for breathtaking panoramic views of the Mont Blanc massif? Or perhaps you'd like to try paragliding and soar through the skies like a bird. Hiking and rock climbing are also popular activities for those looking to further explore the mountains.

    • Enjoy a final dinner together with the group to celebrate your accomplishments and new friendships!

    • Wake up and enjoy breakfast at our accommodations before packing up and checking out. A transfer will be arranged for those flying out today. Please book a flight for 12 p.m. or later today if you would like to join the group transfer back to Geneva Airport (GVA).

  • $4,895 double occupancy, single occupancy is not available for this trip.

    If you are traveling solo, you will be assigned roommates upon request.

    A deposit is due at booking to hold your spot with regular monthly payments. Additional payments may be applied to the trip balance prior to payment due dates.

  • • 4 nights in the Chamonix Valley. Double occupancy rooms available. Hotel also has a heated swimming pool and onsite spa.

    • 5 nights stay in remote mountain huts and guesthouses, and 2 nights in village hotels during the trek. You will have your own bed in a shared room with other hikers during the trek. Blankets and pillows will be provided at each of the accommodations. Hotel rooms along the trail are double occupancy.

    • One group airport transfer from Geneva International Airport (GVA) to your hotel in Chamonix and back to Geneva International Airport (GVA)

    • Private, fully guided 8-day 65+ mile trek through the heart of the Alps where you will visit France, Switzerland and Italy and hike past pristine lakes, traditional farms and ancient churches as you circumnavigate the world’s 11th highest mountain, Mont Blanc. Please note this trek is not the entire 110 mile Tour du Mont Blanc Circuit.

    • Luggage transfer for the duration of the trek so you can enjoy the trail only carrying your essentials in your day pack while hiking

    • Local in country transportation and transfers during the trek

    • Time to explore the villages of Les Houches, Courmayeur and Chamonix

    • Welcome and farewell dinners, all breakfasts along with all meals while trekking; in total this includes 11 breakfasts, 7 lunches, and 8 dinners

    • Visa if applicable and any pre-travel medical expenses such as immunizations or required Covid-19 testing 

    • Travelers insurance to cover medical expenses while traveling abroad (proof of insurance required)

    • Personal expenses not included in the itinerary such as additional accommodations, transportation, meals, souvenirs, etc.

  • All meals will be provided as noted in the itinerary. Please reach out to the trip host after booking if you have any food allergies/sensitivities. We always do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions but cannot make any guarantees.

  • This trip requires a minimum number of women to register in order for it to be confirmed. Once the trip reaches the minimum participant number, you will receive a trip confirmation email and a link to be added a private Facebook group just for trip guests. In this group further trip details will be provided along with pre-travel support. Please let us know if you do not have or use Facebook (see contact information below).

    All deposits are non-refundable at the time of booking, but may be transferable if done so within the timeframe outlined in the Terms of Service.

    Once a trip has been confirmed (no matter the booking or trip timeline), the deposit is both non-refundable and non-transferable. Please make sure you are purchasing adequate travel insurance at the time of booking to ensure you are covered in case you need to cancel.

  • Travel (and medical) insurance is required for anyone traveling on a Women Who Explore adventure. Your insurance should include adequate protection for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment and the specific activities involved on your adventure. Your insurance policy should also include specific Covid-19 cover, including cancellation and curtailment cover if you or a close relative are diagnosed with Covid-19.
